Prior Authorization: A Consolidated PBM Nightmare
I‘ve had the opportunity to post another article on The Sling.
This one is all about “prior authorization” through “pharmacy benefit managers” — PBMs. Doctors’ worst nightmare.
My goal is to explain to you what makes health care good — and what makes it bad.

This piece is on the “bad” side. I still hope you enjoy it: https://www.thesling.org/prior-authorization-a-consolidated-pbm-nightmare/
Health insurance is a nightmare for patients as well. Outrageous premiums, ridiculous deductibles. And in group insurance plans, your rate is only as cheap as your sickest member. My husband and I went to a Christian health sharing ministry back in November 2015 and it’s one of the best things we’ve ever done. Nobody makes healthcare or prescription decisions but our physicians and ourselves. And you can use the good RX card, HEB’s Blink card, Single Care, or whatever group you want to get prescription discounts. The cash pay prices are often cheaper than what is billed to the insurance companies. And the bonus is they don’t report to the MIB so insurance companies can’t check your medical history. They are invasive, powerful, and greedy. A complete overhaul is decades overdue.
